Walley's 1st Birthday will be celebrated in Cape Cod, MA

I am so excited while I type this post!! Yes, I am finally about to spill the beans about Walley's Birthday celebration. Well, not all of them as we are still planning some other fun stuff for the big day!!

We have decided to take Walley to Cape Cod on a vacation just prior to his birthday. Yes, the beach!! Elwyn and I love going to beaches and have never been to Cape Cod before so this will be our first experience in the beautiful and scenic Cape Cod. For Walley, of course, this will be his very first beach experience but we are already positive that he is going to love it, considering Golden Retrievers love the water and have always been known to be great swimmers too! It will be very interesting to see Walley's maiden swimming experience!! Apart from the beach there are several other outdoor fun things to do in the area we will be staying. There is a dog park where dogs are unleashed and can run around freely and play with each other. I am sure Walley is going to thoroughly enjoy that! I can just go on and on about the list of "see and do" things in Cape Cod but I do not want to sound like a travel advisor. Instead, I will post a video or share some pictures of our trip after we're back.

The nice thing about Cape Cod is that dogs are allowed on most of the beaches! Some beaches allow dogs that are leashed throughout the day and some beaches allow dogs that are unleashed at certain times of the day. The fun part about the beaches that allow dogs that are unleashed is that Walley can swim freely rather than just being on a leash and walking on the shore.

The three of us are very excited about this trip. This is officially our first vacation with Walley and it will be a very memorable one as we are celebrating his 1st birthday. We'll be driving to Cape Cod. Its roughly a 3-4 hour drive from New York. We may rent a car although we have our own only because we are going to have so many things (including Walley's crate) to take on the trip and our car just won't be big enough. We'll be staying at the Outer Reach Resort located on 12 acres of the Cape Cod National Seashore atop the highest bluff on the Lower Cape with panoramic views of Provincetown, Cape Cod Bay, Pilgrim Lake, Provincetown Harbor and the Atlantic Ocean. All good stuff! We leave for Cape Cod on August 12th sometime in the afternoon and return to New York late night on August 15th.

So, a fun summer vacation awaits us in Cape Cod! We have some other special surprise plans for Walley on the 16th (the actual date of his birthday) which we are still working on. As soon as we finish making solid plans, I will blog about it!

12 days for the Beach Trip and 16 days for Walley's Birthday!

Have a great weekend, all!
