Connected to the Web!!

So eventually, yesterday, at around 11 pm we got the cable and wireless Internet to work at our new home. Hopefully, we will have our land line working soon too:-)

As I mentioned in my last post, below are two pictures of Elwyn and me on the driveway, just before we left our old apartment building on Saturday. All smiles:-)

I will post pics of our new home and neighborhood once Walley arrives...8 days to go!!!

Ciao for now! Off to work:-)

We've Moved!

So finally, after the much hectic week, we moved into our new apartment over the weekend. We now live in the beautiful Stuyvesant Town, Gramercy Park of Manhattan. What can I say about our new place? It's like Central Park in our backyard:-) We were really good with the move this time; considering we've now moved thrice after we got married:-) But really, we did an amazing job! Elwyn and I make a great team; I can say proudly! The movers came to our old apartment on Saturday morning and moved everything for us into our new apartment. We were in our new apartment with all of our things moved by 5:30 pm. We were tired, exhausted and hungry! So, we went out to have dinner at this really sweet Belgian restaurant close to our new home and later we did a little bit of "walking around the new neighborhood" for an hour or so. We were back home at 8 pm and off to sleep!! Yes, I think this was the first Saturday of our lives when we woke up at 6 am and went back to sleep at 8 pm:-)

On Sunday, we didn't wake up till 7 am which means we slept for a good eleven hours like babies. We spent the whole morning unpacking and unpacking and unpacking. We stopped only for a short lunch break at 1 pm. And then got back to more unpacking. But guess what? We were done with all the unpacking and organizing our new home by 5:30 in the evening yesterday. We couldn't even believe we were completely done so soon because normally settling down in a new home is a process. It takes at least a week to unpack and then a week to organize the stuff and for some people it can even take forever! No kidding!! But we are all set and so happy in our new home already! The only thing we are waiting upon right now is having our cable, phone and Internet services to be set up. So where am I blogging from right now? I am at a public library, close to where I work, at the moment, typing away with a smile on my face. I just couldn't wait till tomorrow night for the wireless Internet to be set up at home and then blog. After all, we need to use our public libraries once in a while:-) I am putting them to good use!!

We also did have a really nice picture of the two of us taken at our old apartment just before we left on Saturday. I will post it when I blog tomorrow night from home. I am not too sure how safe my pictures would be on a public computer!

Now that our move is well completed and we are perfectly settled in our new home; what's next? Walley will be home in less than 2 weeks and the countdown begins- Ten days to go!!!

2 days to move!

Phew!!

With only two more days to move into our new home; the work just seems to be piling up! Today it was mostly an afternoon of changing our address at every possible place I could think of; notifying our local post office, bank, insurance company, etc. etc. etc.

Now that all of it is taken care of, I thought I could take a short nap only to realize I have to sort out so many things in our current home before the movers come on Saturday. Trash! Trash! Trash! That's what I've been doing for the past one hour. I needed a break and what better break than blogging:-)

For most people, moving is a headache! We, however, are nothing less than excited about this move for 3 reasons:
1. The most obvious reason is Walley will be in our new home in less than 3 weeks:-D
2. The new apartment is much more spacious!
3. We're moving to downtown Manhattan; the most lively and fun area of New York!!

The excitement is our major driving force in getting ready for our big move. We're not moving miles away from where we currently live. We are just moving from one neighborhood in Manhattan to another. Its' just that simple and that much more fun! Moving work is still overwhelming because everything has to be done perfectly and on time. Elwyn and I seem to be acing it right now:-) Way to go!!

Ciao for now. Many more posts to follow:-)

More shopping!!

I just realized that in the excitement and enthusiastic mood that I am in right now, I forgot to introduce myself in my last post. For those of you who do not know me, my name is Shilpa Remos( full name: Ramya Shilpa Remos).

It's a bright and sunny Sunday morning and we're up to do some shopping. Shopping for Walley!! We did some shopping at PETCO yesterday and today we're about to explore the Orvis store in the city. Its' such a wonderful feeling because it's a like shopping for a baby when you shop for a puppy:)

We actually haven't brought home any of the shopped stuff yet because we're moving in a few days so we would rather have everything delivered to our home after we move. But we want to have everything Walley would need in his new home when he arrives to make him feel comfortable and happy.

So it's a shopping day for us and for all of you readers out there ( that is if anyone is reading this blog) if you are also shopping today, then Happy Shopping!!

My best Birthday gift ever!!

Finally!!

Here I am blogging for the first time in my life out of sheer excitement and for the love of dogs.

Its almost 3 years since Elwyn and I got married and we both decided a couple months ago that we would get a dog while we celebrate our 3rd wedding anniversary. We both love dogs so why not? On August 15, we signed a lease at an apartment in the "happening" Gramercy Park of Manhattan, New York. Well, after all, we need to live in an apartment that at least allows dogs and has good amount of room for our new family member. The really nice thing about our new place is that the entire neighborhood is very dog friendly.

I celebrated my best birthday ever on 09-09-09. Why? Besides the unique date of course, my absolutely loving husband surprised me with a golden retriever puppy!! Walley, our soon-to-be golden retriever pup will be coming home on October 9, over the Columbus day weekend and we just can't wait for the new and cute addition to our family! We will need to however wait to bring Walley home as he is just 4 weeks old right now and too young to be weaned off his mother's milk.

So now what? 1 week to move into Gramercy Park and 3 weeks to bring Walley home!
