Our happy-go-lucky Walley turned 3 today!!!

It's Walley's birthday today and he just turned 3 years old !!! How time flies !

We have almost settled down in our new apartment in Seattle with only a few more boxes left to unpack and we're enjoying the new neighborhood. There a lots of things to see and do out here and we're only a block away from Pike Place Market! The city is bustling with tourists since it's the Summer time.

We took Walley to the Downtown Dog Lounge today for a full groom. He hadn't been groomed at the Spa since we left New York so a grooming session was really long overdue for him. Downtown Dog Lounge is a fabulous facility with grooming, daycare, boarding and training services for dogs. The staff out there are very friendly and professional. I will blog more details about this Dog Lounge in another post.

Our Walley was thoroughly pampered at the Spa today. He got a full groom which included an oatmeal bath, hair and nail trim as well as brushing of his teeth. When he walked out of the Spa with his stylist Dawn, I was stunned! He looked so fresh and neat ! Dawn, his groomer, did a fabulous job! Dawn is a lovely lady and Walley instantly bonded with her. She also put a really cute bandana on Walley after he was groomed.

Walley also got a bunch a goodies for his birthday from the folks at the Downtown Dog Lounge today. He got a really sweet birthday card with his picture on it as well as a birthday cookie. Also, since this was his first time getting groomed at the Downtown Dog Lounge, Walley got a Spa packet and a Welcome packet which included a pet water bottle, few dog food samples, treats, etc.

Here are a few pictures of Walley taken at the Downtown Dog Lounge:

Walley would love to thank all of his family, friends and well-wishers for making his 3rd birthday so special by sending his hugs and kisses to everyone of you'll !! :-)

Two weeks in Seattle and LOVING it already!!!

I am sitting in a cozy coffee shop called Seattle Coffee Works in Pike Place as I type this post. It's raining outside and I am enjoying a very special steaming hot cup of Mocha. I'll tell you later in this post why this cup of Mocha is so unique!

The three of us are already loving it here in Seattle!! It's only been two weeks since we moved to this gorgeous and fun city but we've already fallen in love with the new place! Why? A thousand reasons!! I'll just touch upon a few of them in this post :-)

We moved from New York to Seattle with great expectations and Seattle met all of those expectations and much more! Seattle is such a beautiful city. The Elliot Bay with sailboats and ships cruising on it all day, Mount Rainier, the snow-capped Cascade Mountains, Pike Place Market, the chic avenues in Belltown with tons of shopping and dining options, the Space Needle - all of these in one gorgeous little city called Seattle!! I could just go on and on about the lovely things to see and do out here but I'll cover them slowly in my future posts. Today, I just want to keep my post sweet and simple - just like this lovely city and the people out here :-) The people in Seattle are so warm and friendly!

The weather here is so amazing!! I really don't know why everybody who visits Seattle complains about the frequent downpour of rain but I love it! For a writer, nothing is more inspiring than looking out of a window and watching the rain pour :-) I guess, that's why I really don't mind the now and then drizzles! The serenity of this place allows me to really 'think' and tap into my creativity. The temperature is always mild- never gets too hot or cold out here. That's what I like the most about the weather. Very rarely, if ever, there is a heat wave in Summer. But 70 degrees and sunny is what most days in the Summer feels like and that's just perfect! West Coast in general has always been known for awesome weather all year round!

The culinary experience in Seattle has been fantastic so far! I am going to share one of our best dining experiences since we moved to Seattle. To celebrate our first weekend out here, Elwyn and I went to dinner at Six Seven- a cozy and chic Seafood restaurant that nests on Elliot Bay so you can just imagine the gorgeous view one can truly appreciate. The food was just delicious! Needless to say, it was one of the most romantic dates we've had so far! Here's a picture from our dinner at Six Seven (at the Edgewater Hotel).

I am now going to show you how 'artsy' coffee can get in Seattle! Like I said earlier, I am at Seattle Coffee Works as I type this post and I am enjoying a delicious cup of Mocha. Check out the amazing hand-made artwork on the foam!

Elwyn and I have been frequent visitors at Seattle Coffee Works since we got here! On a chilly afternoon in Seattle when all you need is just that great cup of coffee, you can be sure Seattle Coffee Works has it for you! We are yet to visit the well-known "Original Starbucks" coffee shop. All of you Starbucks fans out there must know that Seattle is home to the first ever Starbucks coffee shop that opened way back in 1971! I will blog about it soon after we visit the place!

I wanted to save the best for last! For all of you fans of Walley, I have a very special video coming up shortly! Walley just loves being in Seattle! He has been enjoying the outdoor fun activities since we got here! Last weekend, we took him to Marymoor Off Leash Dog Park in the city of Redmond which also by the way is a really beautiful city and only twenty five minutes from Seattle. Walley was in BLISS when we he got to the park! Acres of space to run around off-leash at any time of the day and any day of the week could only be a dream for him in Manhattan but in Seattle, it's a dream come true! He made new friends at the park and also made his swimming debut!!! Yes, our Walley finally got his first ever chance to swim and he was such a natural! Golden Retrievers love to swim and they do it so well! He just plunged into the water and swam right away! Our adorable Golden Retriever is not too keen about fetching on land but in water, he's a PRO! It's funny that he fetches tennis balls only thrown into the water. We kept throwing a tennis ball ( at least about 15-20 times) into the pond and every single time we threw the ball in the pond, he would plunge right back into the water and fetch it for us! It was such a thrill to watch our munchkin swimming. Here's a really cute video of him making his swimming debut at Marymoor Park and unleashing the fun!! Watch how he fetches the tennis ball and gets it back to us!

Here's another cute video of Walley just chilling in the pond. He looks so relaxed as he swims away and drinks water from the pond at the same time :-)

I can never share enough pictures and videos of Walley! He has a photo and video library of his own on my laptop! Here's the last picture in this blog post just for all of you fans of Walley. This picture was also taken at Marymoor Park when he took a break from his playtime.

Well, that's the update from our first two weeks in Seattle! The three of us are looking forward to exploring more of the city in the next couple of weeks. Until I write again, wish you all a great weekend!

We're moving to Seattle!!!

I am thrilled to inform all of my blog- readers that the three of us are moving to Seattle!!! We're leaving tomorrow morning! I apologize for the delay in posting this update but we were so busy over the last couple weeks preparing for this move from the East coast to the West coast.

We're almost done with the packing and travel arrangements! This is the first time we are flying Walley in an airplane. After we settle down in Seattle,  I will write a post on travel tips especially for dog-owners. Since this is our first time flying with Walley, we are excited! Packing Walley's things was a lot of fun and he sure gets excited when his bags gets packed for any travel! Walley will be sedated during the flight so he doesn't get anxious as this is his first time on a plane!

I have to keep this blog post extremely short as I have several loose ends to tie up before we leave tomorrow.

I will be back on my blog as soon as we get to Seattle! I promise to write more often after we settle down in the new place!!

Until then, take care of yourselves and wish us all the luck and blessings during this big move!

Next blog post will be from Seattle!!!
