Happy Halloween Walley!!

Trick or Treat!!

I can't believe myself that I haven't blogged in two weeks!! Have I been busy?? Busy with Walley: yes, absolutely!!

Today is Halloween and it's Walley's first Halloween:-) We don't have any significant plans for this "trick-or treat" day. Elwyn and I don't dress up in bizarre costumes!! In fact, we don't dress up in any costumes at all and we don't want to put Walley through that torture either;-)

We bought a Halloween squeaky toy for Walley last weekend and he enjoys playing with it. Here are a few pictures we took of him last weekend when he was playing with his Halloween toy and a pumpkin that we brought home for Pumpkin Day!

This year, our Halloween greeting card for friends and family was rather special!! Elwyn and I designed a card with Walley's picture on it. It was so exciting to create a card with our little munchkin's cute picture:-) Here is our Halloween greeting to all you readers out there!

Happy Halloween and Happy Pumpkin Day!!

WALLEY GOES BLUE!!!

This blog-post is an absolute treat for all the College Football fans out there and a "must" read for Michigan fans!!

So yesterday evening, our little munchkin's first surprise package from the two of us was delivered to our home. The package was shipped from the famous M Den in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Elwyn and I were waiting for this special moment for a few weeks! We couldn't have thought of a better surprise for this amazing sporting dog:-) We were just thrilled to see Walley's excitement!! It was as if this little guy just knew it was his package. Here are a bunch of pictures we took of our little munchkin from opening his own package( with a little help from us of course) to pulling his gifts out of the package and playing with each one of them. Walley was on cloud nine for sure!! I don't have to write much on this post because the pictures speak for themselves:) Some really cute stuff coming up!!

Today morning, Walley ate his breakfast from his special pet bowl that came with the rest of his gifts yesterday. He loved it!!

We loved watching Walley pick up all of his new gifts and put them one by one on his toy bed to play with them:-) Here is another really cute picture we took this morning after Walley finished his breakfast.

Our munchkin is taking a nap right now so he'll be geared-up to sit with us and watch the football game on television this afternoon:-) While Michigan Wolverines play against Delaware Hornets, Walley says, " GO BLUE!!"

Our best Columbus Day weekend!!

Over the long Columbus Day weekend, we got a wonderful opportunity to spend some quality time with Walley. We were just mesmerized by Walley's adorable presence at home. Our home truly feels like home now with this sweet little puppy running around, playing with his toys, sleeping in our arms etc. etc. We spent the whole weekend observing our little munchkin, understanding his needs, likes, dislikes, so on and so forth. Raising a puppy is something, myself and Elwyn are truly cherishing!!

On Sunday, Walley got his first shower in his new home. Elwyn and I had one of our best moments bathing Walley together. Our little munchkin wasn't too happy getting bathed but he definitely enjoyed my hair dryer drying him up! Here is a picture of Walley in our kitchen basin, ready or not so ready for a warm shower:)

Walley was so playful after his shower that we were forced to take a few pictures and videos of this little guy playing with his toys. His favorite toys are the squeaky ones:-) Here are a few pictures of Walley busy playing and chewing. How Adorable!

Once I am done with processing Walley's videos, I will post some of those too. Walley in action is worth watching!!

After playing for a while with his squeaky toy, Walley took an afternoon nap next to Elwyn's feet. This is such a cute picture of our munchkin..Aaawweee:)

While we are home, Walley likes to be around us all the time! When we were fixing dinner in the kitchen on Columbus Day, Walley was right next to us, cozying beside the dish-washer and watching us cook. Perhaps, he liked the heat from the dish-washer keeping him warm and the irresistible aroma of French food cooking it's way to perfection:-) Look at our darling!!

The long weekend just flew past us; at least so it felt. Moreover, we can never get enough of our Walley!! We were so glad we brought our puppy home on a long weekend.

More stories about our little bundle of joy coming up soon!

Happy Reading!!

Walley loves his new home!!

So, yesterday evening we brought Walley home after the month-long wait. He was really comfortable with us during his two-hour drive back home from New Jersey to Manhattan. It was during this drive that Elwyn and I learned a little something about Walley. Our adorable munchkin loves music!! We played soft music during the drive and Walley was so relaxed that he just went to sleep:-) How cute!!

By the time we reached home, it was past 10 pm. We let Walley explore his new home. He went all around the house and it was so funny to watch him run and slip on the hardwood floors:-) It didn't take Walley too long to figure out where his food was kept. Here is a really cute picture we took of Walley when he found his bag of puppy food. It's just giggles and giggles watching Walley play!!

Walley's first night at home went much more smoothly than we expected. He woke us up only twice at night and even that was because little munchkin wanted to poop! Besides that, we and Walley had a peaceful, restful night with soft music playing in the room.

Today, we took him around our neighborhood after he ate his meals to get him acquainted with his new surroundings and to begin teaching him to want to go outside when he's ready to "poop and pee". Walley is a very quick and keen learner. He already responds to his name and we're really happy we found a name that Walley likes too:-) He also understands the word "no"!

There are a few things we learned from Walley too! We learned a few signs he tries to show us when he wants to do his business:-) Also, we learned today, that he loves squeaky toys!! It's a great way for us to grab his attention when we need him to stop chewing or scratching things he's not supposed to!!

All in all, Walley is very easy-going. There is no fussiness with him. He loves to play with his toys, enjoys his puppy food and loves to hang-out and play with us all day!! He's naughty but not rambunctious; at least not quite yet! :-)

Walley has already grabbed all the attention he could possibly get from our neighbors too! From kids to elders, everyone love this little munchkin! Walley was showered with so many compliments and so much petting every time we took him outside. He also got some warmth and affection from other dogs too!!

Walley loves everyone and everyone loves Walley!! With that note, I'm going to catch some sleep while little munchkin is sleeping!

Puppy makes three!!

Our lives are just about to change in less than twenty four hours:-) How exciting!

Finally! Finally we're bringing home, our most adorable puppy tomorrow evening. Our puppy-prep checklist is now completed as we've done our puppy-shopping, selected Walley's veterinarian, enrolled him in Trupanion( pet medical insurance) and puppy-proofed our apartment:-) Phew..just in time!

The big wait is almost over with a few hours left to pick up Walley from the breeder's house. What a joy!! We're on cloud nine right now, just thinking; tomorrow at this exact time, Walley will be with us in our new home:-)

Puppy makes three!! Exciting blog-posts to follow!

Reason(s) behind the name "Walley"

Both, Elwyn and I wanted to give our puppy a really unique name. It's our first puppy together as a couple, so why not? But, we didn't spend too long thinking of a name. Elwyn and I have such similar taste; name-hunting was easy. So here it goes:

We both loved the movie WALL-E! The concept of the movie was very interesting but more than anything, WALL-E, the robot in the movie, was really cute and funny! We have watched the movie several times since it's release. So, we both looked at each other and thought WALL-E would be a really, really unique name for our puppy."WALL-E" though, just as I have typed, didn't seem too appropriate for a puppy name. We liked the way "WALL-E" sounded but not the way it's spelled out with a hyphen. Then, it suddenly occurred to us, why not take off the hyphen and add a "y" at the end, making the name "Walley"!! That would sound like "WALL-E" and give our puppy a really cute name too. It was perfect!! We both liked the name instantly and there were no second thoughts after that!

Just for fun, later on, we Google-searched the name "Walley" to see if it had a meaning. The name "Walley" does have a meaning and a really nice one too!! "Walley" means "Ruler of the army". The name is of German origin and it's a "male" name which is perfect because our puppy is a male too:-) Golden Retrievers are amazing sporting dogs! Being the great swimmers that they are, and the fact that they were originally bred to hunt, made us think: a name that meant "Ruler of the army" definitely would be appropriate for this sporting breed. Well, even if Walley doesn't end up becoming "Ruler of the army", we can already bet he'll be "Ruler of the family" for sure :-) Everything fit in well now and we were happy that we found a name, we thought was both unique and appropriate for our adorable Golden Retriever puppy. Besides all of the creative thought-processing that went into our cute puppy's name, we liked the ring of the name "Walley" when linked to our names too! Elwyn, Shilpa & Walley- sounds nice, eh?:-)

Preliminary shopping completed

Over the last weekend, besides meeting our adorable Walley, we did some more puppy shopping. We went to "The Hungry Puppy" store recommended by the Breeder. It was a great store and we're glad the Breeder walked us through it all. Why? Like first-time parents, we were so lost with what and how to shop for our puppy. When you go to a pet store to shop for the very first time, you feel like buying every little thing you see although you might or might not really need most of it. It's sheer excitement!! The Breeder told us exactly what to buy and what "not" to buy which made shopping much, much easier:-)

So, we have completed the preliminary round of shopping for Walley, finally:-) Puppy food, chew toys, collar, leash, training treats, training crate, dog shampoo etc, etc, etc; we've got it all ready as we're getting prepped for our li'l angel who is coming home real soon..Yay!!

Walley is also getting a cute bagel-shaped dog bed from the Orvis store, hopefully delivered to our home soon!

Shopping for a puppy is fun because the pet stores have such cute stuff!!

Excitement is at it's peak right now and we can't wait any longer to bring our honey bunches of love home...2 days to go!!!

Walley got his first shot of vaccines today

So, today afternoon we visited Walley as he just got his first shot of vaccines from the Breeder's vet.

Below are pictures we took of Walley and his brother outside "The Hungry Puppy" store in New Jersey soon after they got their first shot of vaccines. Walley was still quite cheerful and playful despite the painful pricks he just got this afternoon but his brother on the other hand just wanted to sleep:-) Aawwee!

So here's introducing our adorable Golden Retriever puppy, Walley, for the very first time on our blog; me carrying Walley and Elwyn carrying Walley's little brother!

Aren't these puppies so very adorable?? They just leave you amazed!!

We really, really and really didn't want to let go off our little munchkin today:-( But we've got to wait a few more days before we bring Walley home. The wait is not too long though...5 more days to go!!

Enjoy your weekend, Readers!!
