I just completely forgot to blog about the amazing and cute stuff Walley does with his paws. I should have blogged about this a long, long time ago, but I shall do so now:-)
When Walley was 5 months old, I taught him some paw tricks. I taught him some paw tricks which he learned so quickly that it was so much fun! Actually I didn't have to really teach him the tricks because he is such a spontaneous learner. So what does he do with his paws? First, he learned to give me his right paw when I asked him to give me his right paw and later he learned to give me the left paw when I consequently asked him to give me his other paw. That was great! But a month later, I felt those paw tricks were a little boring. So I was just sitting there and wondering what else I could teach him when all of a sudden, Walley raised his paw and put it on my lap as he was sitting on the floor and I was sitting on the couch. I thought it was amazing, so I called it a " High 5 ". Following that, I asked him for a "High 5" and he would raise his paw ( sometimes right and sometimes left, depending on his mood) and touch the flat side of my raised right or left hand (palm) with his raised paw. Obviously I have a hand raised already when I ask him for a High 5 so that triggers him to give me a High 5 instantly. He raises his paw as high as I have my hand raised. Now he gives me a High 5 whether I ask him to or not. When he is very happy and playful he gives me or Elwyn a High 5 even if we have not asked him to. It's so much fun!! And if we ask him to give us his paw, he does that as well but its just so wonderful to see the difference with which he responds to the two different commands. If I ask him to give me his paw, he gently places one of his paws on my hand that's placed forward to receive his paw. And when I ask him for a "High 5", he raises his paw high up with a lot of excitement and touches my raised hand. Amazing!! When he is very very excited and happy, he jumps really high to give us a standing High 5 while we are standing as well. If he does a good job at anything, we just do a classic High 5 with him!
Elwyn and I just love Walley's paw tricks! We're also simply obsessed with his paws because puppy paws are so adorable. The puppy paws have a particularly lovely smell that's present from the time the puppies are born and lingers till they are a year older ( at least until then). Golden puppies have really adorable paws that smell great all the time. The way in which Walley licks his paws is so cute to watch. He gently cleans his paws by licking them over and over again tenderly. So yes, anyone can get obsessed with puppy paws and for all those people who think it's plain crazy to be obsessed about puppy paws, just have your dog trained to do some fun paw tricks. Trust me, once your dog does those amazing tricks, you will surely be obsessed with those cute little playful paws!! Walley gives us his paw even when he wants to welcome us home or when he is hungry and wants us to give him his food ( we don't even have to ask him to).
When Walley was younger and would get himself dirty after a "pee" or "poop" in his crate, we would always clean his paws ( front and back) with "Huggies" baby wipes. And he loved it. Even now, if he gets his paws dirty after walking in the muddy grass outside, we use Huggies wipes to clean his paws when he gets home. Only clean paws are fun to play with!
That's all about puppy paws for now. It's Tuesday and so slow. Can't wait for the weekend!
Happy Reading!
